AMD Navi is said to come 7.7.19. Leaks from Sapphire say above 2070 performance for 499$. Might be worth waiting for benchmarks.

if you have thoughts on buying a vr headset in the future then definitely go for a nvidia card

Personally I would either wait for Navi or I would go for RTX2060, it is 11% slower on average, costs a lot less than that and it is really cost effective option. On Hardware Unboxed testing it was between 3 and 16% slower, which even in worst case doesn't align with price bump from 350USD to 500USD. As for Navi, we don't have a lot confirmed. At 500USD it is suppose to offer bit better performance than 2070 and at 400USD bit better than 2060, according to one of partners speaking out bit too much. So much for 2070 performance for 300USD, though I have to admit it did sound bit too much like wishful thinking(:-D), but such is a nature of rumors. Still we have to see the reviews, leaks as well as rumors don't tell whole picture anyway. And I will make my judgement after I see independent reviews. Also Navi was confirmed by AMD CEO to be in 3/4 2019, meaning July, August or September. Though we will learn more soon.

2070 isn't really worth buying. 2060 is really close it it's performance but costs much less. 2060 is much better purchase.

if you later going for 1440 go or for vega 64 or 2060 from decent brand where you can a bit overlock and have nice cooling, if you can afford vega VII or 2070 dependence on your budget

if your 1440p ultrawide will have 120Hz+ then a 2080 should be the minimum
